I’m lucky that I have community support ’round here and can do some very fun things like teach a class or chat about zines. Hope you can stop by and see some, if not all, of my SC led events…

Woo! Another talk at Death Over Drafts! I am happy to present in May so be sure to RSVP.

Death over Drafts – May “Flowers & Death Culture” The old saying, “April showers bring May flowers,” is true!
Join Jennifer Keene from the Southern Cemetery Series as she traces the history and relationship of all things floral within death culture – from society’s use of wildflower burials in caves to the Victorian Era Craze of Floriography in garden cemeteries and beyond. Every attendee receives a free zine on floral symbolism and can create their own tussie-mussie as a keepsake.  RSVP

I’m presenting at OLLI for the shared interest photography group. I’m going to chat about why I do what I do, my minimal photo experience, etc.

This is a rescheduled event.

I might regret this but I’m giving a sneak peek into some upcoming events that are still in the works. More details soon on the photo group but the book club now has a date! See below:

RIP (Read In Peace) Book Club Why this book club? I love to read and I love book clubs but I was really looking for one spot to park it and then have the experience of my choice. Sometimes I want to discuss the book and sometimes I want to just read quietly in the company of others and sometimes I want to do both in the span of an hour without feeling pressured. As an extroverted introvert, I can use up my energy pretty quickly and need to quietly recharge. And, well, now I can have it allllll. And you can too

The Read In Peace (RIP) Book Club will meet at Hendershot’s (Athens, Georgia) on May 20th from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Whatever horror books you want to read – psychological thrillers, Gothic goodness, fantasy, slasher, cosmic and beyond – you can read it here. RIP Book Club hopes to be an enjoyable haven for genre book lovers who want community without the pressure of a forced conversation or reading deadlines.

We meet regularly and you can pick your poison! You can read with others in silence, which allows you to dig deep into the monthly book selection or your own chosen spooky tome. Want to chat away? Swap horror stories? Really unearth the meaning of the monthly book pick? There’s a spot for that as well.

Once the hour is up you can stay for drinks or events at the space, continue conversations there or elsewhere, keep reading in your comfy spot or simply pack up and leave without saying a word.

Go here to see more!
